The School Yard’s first operator, Urban Coffee Company, is overwhelmed by the welcoming Harborne reception having opened its doors for business this week.

Urban Coffee Company’s Managing Director Hannah Wolsey said; “Simon and I are so happy with how everything has turned out at The School Yard and we are really pleased to be part of the development. We’ve been open less than a week and we are already incredibly busy! We love talking to locals who are eager to reminisce about the building and what it meant and continues to mean to them.”

With the stylish coffee house having already made a name for itself on the Birmingham scene with popular emporiums in the Jewellery Quarter and Colmore Business District, the Urban Coffee Company team has been excited to bring their third emporium to the city’s clock tower address.

It’s exciting times for The School Yard, EDG Property’s Harborne clock tower development, with the old school playground now transformed into an amazing private square and all set to open this October.

The new £1/4million square will be the first of its kind in the area; a place people really are not expecting to see off Harborne High Street. It is inspired by its former use, adopting a hopscotch theme, using clever landscaping and lighting to create a characterful space for people to meet and dine.

European in style, the entrances to the square have been kept deliberately narrow to allow for a sense of drama as the pathways unveil the heart of this new landmark destination.

Urban Coffee Company will be the first of the tenants to open their doors mid-October. Events are then planned, as their neighbours, including award winning Prezzo, follow suit in the coming weeks.
